FLORIDA LAWYERS TURN PASSION FOR CARS AND WATCHES INTO MIAMI FESTIVAL
Two Florida lawyers are helping bring car and watch collectors together for a new three-day festival in Miami.
Carlos Jimenez, a Florida Bar member and shareholder at Jimenez Mazzitelli Mordes, and his law partner, Gabriel Mazzitelli, are among the organizers of Time to Drive, a car and watch festival set for November 6-8 at Mana Wynwood.
Mazzitelli and Jimenez founded the MIA Watch Club, which has grown to more than 400 car and watch collectors. Through the club, the partners met Lex Borrero, a former music executive and the driving force behind Time to Drive.
The idea for the festival grew out of a trip Borrero organized for MIA Watch Club members that included visits to the Porsche Museum and Mercedes-AMG factory in Stuttgart, Germany, drives through the Black Forest into Switzerland, and tours of watch manufacturers including IWC, H. Moser & Cie. and Parmigiani Fleurier.
The group decided to bring that experience to Miami, creating an event that combines the automotive and horological worlds.
The festival is expected to feature more than 50 watch brands and 200 cars, along with appearances and programming involving motorsports and automotive personalities.
Jimenez serves on the festival’s Horological Committee and is a featured guest. Florida Bar member Sean O’Neil, an assistant director at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, serves on the Automotive Committee. Jimenez and O’Neil also will host live podcasts during the event.
